ACEC Delaware Engineering Excellence Awards Program
The 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA), Sponsored by ACEC/Delaware, is part of National Engineers Week (February 16-21, 2025). Below is a comprehensive overview of the program, eligibility, timeline and submission guidelines.
Eligibility and Submission Categories
Any firm engaged in the private practice of consulting engineering or surveying is eligible to submit entries in the following categories:
- Category A: Projects $1,000,000 and under
- Category B: Projects between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000
- Category C: Projects $5,000,000 and above
Firms may submit multiple entries. Projects must be executed engineering project studies planned or designed by consulting engineers, with substantial effort by employees working within Delaware. The projects should have been publicly disclosed or substantially completed between November 1, 2022, and October 31, 2024.
Key Dates
- September 30, 2024: Letter of Intent due
- October 31, 2024: Final Applications and Project Materials Due
- November 14, 2024: Judging
- November 30, 2024: Winners Announced
- January 5, 2025: National Competition Submission Deadline
- February 20, 2025: Awards Presented at Engineers Week Banquet
Entry Fees
- ACEC Delaware Member Firms: $500 per submission
- Non-Members: $800 per submission (must hold a valid Certificate of Authorization issued by the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers)
Judging Criteria
Entries are judged based on the following criteria, each weighted at 20%:
- Original or Innovative Application of New or Existing Techniques
- Future Value to Engineering Profession and Public Perception
- Social, Economic, and Sustainable Design Considerations
- Complexity
- Exceeding Client/Owner Needs
Submission Guidelines
All materials must be submitted by October 31, 2024.
- Project Description: 5 pages (8.5” x 11”), size 12 font, addressing role, contributions, and rating guidelines.
- Executive Summary: 100 words, size 12 font, double-spaced.
- Photographs: Three JPEGs.
- Project Panels: 30” x 30” display material board for judging, including ACEC logo, project title, and firm’s name.
Submit all materials to info@acecde.org. Physical boards and easels should be delivered to the specified location provided after the letter of intent submission.
Additional Notes
- No QR codes or embedded links are permitted in submissions.
- Ensure materials are in WORD format and not zipped.
- Submissions must be on plain paper without design elements, in black print.
- Winning projects are eligible for the National EEA competition, with a separate submission process.
